Back and fro,

Higher and higher,

Until her thoughts and fears,

are a little quieter,

But they never get silenced,

They only grow louder,

So she swings faster and harder,

To empty her mind of anger.

Back and fro,

Higher and higher,

Blocking out the mental pain,

Of those hurtful words,

And erasing the images,

Of those black and blue bruises.

"They didn't mean to call me names,"

she tells herself,

"They hit me because I'm Soft,"

She cries,

While swinging a little faster.

Back and fro,

Higher and higher,

Her lips remain tight,

Not daring to make a sound;

As tears fall from her face,

To the grassy ground.

Back and forth,

Higher and higher,

Her heart is burning,

Like it's on fire.

"You smell," she hears,

Followed by a smack,

"You're so soft,"

She hears,

Followed by a boot.

Back and fro,

Higher and higher,

Trying to swing faster,

To hide the pain,

And bury their brutal words,

Six feet under.

"Just wait until tonight," they tell her,

As she shivers and cowers,

Slipping off the seat in fear of

Her life.

She doesn't want to go to school tomorrow,

Or tell mummy and daddy what's happening,

"You need to toughen up!" they'll say,

"Get out and beat them!" they will retort.

Back and fro,

Faster and higher,

Erasing the story,

She would never tell,

Because it was too shameful to speak.
