The Stars Could be Aligned

Even the falling ones

You might find me

In the assurance

Of a tangerine sunrise

Welcoming light and

New beginnings

Some people discover me

Amidst a blanket, a good book

And their favourite mug

Full of hot chocolate and

Liquid relaxation

People often overlook me

In their ruthless search

For happiness

So caught up in

The extreme feelings

(Fireworks beneath

Their skin) that

They forget how comforting

The simple emotions are

(Walking into an airconned room

On a hot summers day)

You might find me

In the tight embrace of

A family member

Or the silent smile in

A loved one’s eyes

I am that warm feeling

On the left side of your chest

That kind that makes you wonder

If even the falling stars

Are aligned with the

Permanent ones

Some people spend

Their whole life

Forgetting to take

The time for me but

Most people experience me

In the little moments

The ones they don’t notice

Until they’re gone

I am fleeting because

Almost everyone lets me be

I am contentment

This is beautiful. The imagery and language is so well written. I loved the line about fireworks beneath the skin. Great job!
