The Stages Of Grief

A Poem

By Laura PruettPublished 3 years ago Updated 2 years ago 1 min read

Ice, ice,

The bringer of life;

How can I go on without you?

*****

Gin, gin,

The bringer of sin;

Life's meaningless without you

*****

Pray, pray,

The bringer of day,

For I can go on without you

*****

Lies, lies,

The bringer of guise;

The truth comes out without you

*****

Pain, pain,

The bringer of rain;

My tears still fall without you.

*****

Author's Note: This poem was loosely inspired by a dream of a friend who recently died as a long-term result of drugs and alcohol. If you are struggling with drug addiction or alcoholism, please reach out to anyone you can for help, before it's too late.
