I never said
that a lie was a great option to have,
but I think the spaces
were probably the worst idea imaginable.
Not because they marked our distance,
or because they seemed to fit where words could not,
but solely because
at the time,
and in the moment,
they just seemed like they belonged.
And over time,
one did learn to appreciate them.
I wonder if words ever wonder why there are spaces
that cease them from embracing one another.
Maybe that's the way it ought to be.
We string words together,
and hope they sound pretty.
And we forget that the spaces kill their connection,
severing it in such a way,
that it makes it almost impossible to get anything out.
But you see,
the spaces play a leading role.
For, if they weren't present,
no one would get around to trying to
understanding
anything.
