The Sound of Silence

Silence falls over the room like a soft blanket.

Something about the quiet soothes you,

allowing you to hear things which

you would’ve otherwise missed…

Like the sound of a cat purring,

as if it wants to tell you a secret;

The fire whispering, crackling,

Creating a soothing backdrop.

Or the trees, gently tapping their

fingertips along the window panes.

Or the rain, pattering like tiny fairy feet

across the entire roof of the house.

Even the bir ds and insects singing along

with the wind, which whistles you a gentle tune.

Or the home itself, creaking and groaning with age,

as the inhabitants stir within like butterflies in its stomach.

Silence, just like something intimidating,

is often feared because it is not understood.

However, if you take a moment

to sit and listen to it…

You will see that Silence holds more comforts

than you might have ever known.
