The Sorcery of Your Ways

(A Love Letter to the Moon)

By Jennifer HessPublished 2 months ago 1 min read
Sorceress

Across the seas,

midnight waves and your light dance before me

As you perform your promenade

before my eyes

Your magic lulls me

Drunken by your beauty,

undulant phantoms rise deep from the waters

In your honor

They bow down at your grace

blanketed in your forever

You reign over the night

The lone poet of the skies

Lost in your hours

We paint our dreams

You enchant the nightbirds and my solitude

Even the stars they envy

The sorcery of your ways

Have I ever not loved thee?

And you break our hearts.. just as the day breaks the dark

With love dust upon our faces

We melt into your light

As soft and delicate

As you are glitter edged and sterling

You remain ageless and arresting

Profound in your beauty

Beneath it,

Our minds wander and brew

Like twilight magicians

We wonder of the stories you hold deep

While you

timelessly cast your endless mood

Will you not tell us a secret or two?

Oh ancient storyteller,

The many tales we have of you…
