The Sonshine

The day is long, but longer is the night

Because you wake me up so often, my sleep is oh so light.

Then all day long you need my constant care,

To feed, burp, pacify, and change your underwear.

I might be tired, hungry, or cranky, and I might at times complain,

I might feel like my mind is slowly but surely going insane.

But all of that just dissipates when I see your bright eyes looking into mine,

When I gaze upon the perfection that is you, I realize there is no reason for me to whine.

These days are so incredibly temporary my love and we will never have them back,

Your existence in my life is all encompassing, there is nothing I feel I lack.

So please keep waking me up at night, keep farting, smiling, crying, cooing and feeding

Please keep relying on me fully, I beg of you to keep needing 🙏

Because one day when you’re all grown up, you won’t need me much – it’s true

But remember that you’ll always have my whole heart because I will always love and need you
