The Snake, the Frog and the Fly
One slithers one jumps one flies

The Snake, the Frog and the Fly
The snake lay flat in a patch of sun
Not moving much, just watching for fun
Along came a frog with a curious hop
He paused, then blinked, then came to a stop
The fly zipped past with a buzz and a spin
The frog licked his lips and gave a grin
He crouched real low with a twitch of his knee
Thinking, That buzzing looks tasty to me
The snake stayed still with a sneaky smirk
He thought, I love when the frog does the work
The fly looped once, then twice, then dipped
The frog gave chase but his timing slipped
He landed face-first in a patch of slime
The fly, of course, was gone by that time
The snake just chuckled, smooth and slow
You frogs are quick but never quite go
The frog sat up with a squelchy frown
One eye crossed and one eye down
He said, That fly is too high and wide
But you, my friend, are worse — you hide
The snake replied, That’s part of the game
I wait, I watch, I earn my name
The fly came back and zipped round once more
This time aiming right for the floor
He spun through the air like a tiny kite
The frog got ready, he timed it right
His tongue shot out with a slippery snap
The fly went free, the frog fell flat
The snake said kindly, You really should quit
You’re missing more than you’re likely to hit
The frog said, I know, but it’s worth a go
It’s better than watching the daisies grow
The fly came back with a daring dive
The frog gave chase like he’d just come alive
The snake just sighed, slid under a tree
And muttered, One day, they’ll land on me
