The Smell Of Forever

Subtle Reminders

I will never forget the sweet smell of the earth on the day we laid you in the ground

Or how damp it felt, as it fell away, crumbling between my fingers

The crisp cutting sound the shovel made in the dirt, as we lovingly lowered you down

I can still taste the warm, salty tears on my lips, as they fell from my eyes, gently lingering

Now to see you again, I simply close my eyes and let your dear memory wander. Until the day I will see you again and for eternity we will be together
