The Slow Unfolding of Truth

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished about 11 hours ago 1 min read

Verse 1

I used to pray for lightning,

For a moment that would set me free.

Thought healing came like sunrise,

All at once, warm and clean.

But the years taught me different,

As I stumbled through the dark and the doubt—

It’s a road more than a rescue,

And you learn as you figure it out.

Chorus

Healing ain’t an event, it’s part of the journey,

A pilgrimage walked in worn‑out shoes.

It’s the soul’s long work, quiet and holy,

Step by step through the things we outgrew.

It don’t come quick, it don’t come easy,

But it comes with every breath we choose.

Healing is the slow unfolding of truth.

Verse 2

There were days I wanted answers,

Something simple I could hold in my hand.

But the heart don’t move on command,

It moves like water across the land.

Every scar became a teacher,

Every tear carved a deeper way.

And the pieces I thought were broken

Became the ones that taught me to stay.

Bridge

Maybe grace is in the waiting,

In the days that feel like standing still.

Maybe mercy is the courage

To keep walking up the hill.

Final Chorus

Healing ain’t an event, it’s part of the journey,

A pilgrimage walked in worn‑out shoes.

It’s the soul’s long work, quiet and holy,

Step by step through the things we outgrew.

It don’t come quick, it don’t come easy,

But it comes with every breath we choose.

Healing is the slow unfolding of truth.
