A Poem

I know that it’s up there,

Shining and bright,

But down here its darkness,

In an endless night.

Up there birds sing,

And fly around free,

But I have no voice,

Am blind, cannot see.

To everyone else,

The sky is clear,

They take it for granted,

And don’t hold it dear.

To me it was hope,

Meaning and life.

But right now it’s distant,

In my mental strife.

How do I know,

If I’ll see it again?

What do I do,

To end this pain?

I know that it’s up there,

Shining and bright,

But down here its darkness,

In an endless night.
