The Silent Witness
A Poem of Gratitude for What We Typically Throw Away
“Give thanks for the nuggets of joy in what we cast aside.” Michelle Liew
Like dustbins, for instance. This Thanksgiving, let’s give thanks for what we typically throw away these holidays.
********************************************************************
Forgotten, its form rusts in the sun,
A used tool, its echoes ignored.
Words of things discarded speak,
Their whispers left unheard
Memories needed
But shortly thrown
Left aside,
Withered,
torn.
********************************************************************TTwo hands reach, caress The Unwanted,
Little Treasures in the ruins.
Parts of joy reassembled,
The cares of time dusted.
Their purpose revived,
Their thoughts will thrive,
Remembered,
Cherished,
Loved.

Beautifully written!
This was great, Michelle!
One man's rubbish is another man's treasure! Loved this, Michelle!
I love to rummage through old stuff, thrift stores and antiques stores and sidewalk sales and such,. So yes, I give thanks...hoping to find a million dollar art piece one day. he he. Luv the sentiment.
'Little treasures in the ruins.' This reminds me of how negative issues can crowd those treasures out of thought. Nice piece, Michelle
Mays me think of antique shops and car boot fairs. Excellent words
Oh wow, now that's certainly deep and thought provoking!
