The Silence Between Us

No words were spoken,
but everything was said.
Your back turned slowly,
and my heart quietly bled.

The lights were still on,
but the warmth had gone cold.
We stood in the same room,
yet the distance took hold.

I smiled through the shaking,
you blinked like the sun.
Two souls in a pause,
pretending we’re one.

I made us coffee,
you didn’t take a sip.
The mug stayed untouched,
like the truth on your lips.

There’s dust on the bookshelf
and frost on the air.
But you wouldn’t notice —
you’re barely still there.

I whispered, “Don’t leave,”
though my mouth made no sound.
You walked through the silence
without turning around.

This quiet heartbreak cuts deeper than shouting ever could. The space between the lines is deafening. Beautifully written
