the sight of an old woman

your skin was once the sand on a beach,

the water comforted it

washing away each crevice and scrape

i'll look at your eyes

but

i'll absorb each of your features

like leather on a burning noon

and understand two things at once:

thet my skin is like sand on a beach

and all my life will play in front of me.
