The Sentence You Never Spoke

when honesty died on your tongue

The Sentence You Never Spoke

I asked for so little—

not your forever,

not even your love—

just the decency of truth.

You could have said,

“I cannot stay,”

and I would have bowed to it,

let the tide take us back

to separate shores.

But instead you drowned me

in silence,

and I am left gasping

in the emptiness of what was never said.
