The Selfish World of Money

money

By Muhammad AliPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

In this world of money, where selfishness reigns,

Where everyone's goal is to accumulate gains,

We see people trampling on others' dreams,

Crushing them underfoot, or so it seems.

Greed and avarice are the order of the day,

As people push and shove to get their way,

No thought for the damage they leave behind,

Only the desire for riches that they can find.

The present is all that seems to matter,

As people strive for wealth, with little chatter,

About the impact they have on those around,

Who struggle and suffer on the ground.

The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer,

As the world becomes a place where money's the scorer,

Of success and happiness, a sad state of affairs,

Where compassion and empathy seem to be rare.

But amidst this bleakness, there's still hope,

For those who can see beyond the current scope,

And recognize that true wealth is not in gold,

But in the love and kindness that we can hold.

So let us strive for a world that's kind,

Where money is not the only thing on our mind,

And where we can share our wealth and our time,

To make a brighter future, for all humankind.

Wow, beautifully said! I couldn't agree more. It can seem bleak, so many people fighting for money in the ways they do, but you are right. There is still hope. Love an uplifting poem like this!
