the sea.

dedicated to the big blue.

By phoebe morganPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

I have a dramatically complicated and unconditionally persistent relationship with the sea. I can't live without it.

It welcomes me home with its cool embrace and its salty tang. The sea washes away my worries and replaces them with sun soaked memories and balmy skin. The sea glistens for me, like a million diamonds of my choosing. Its blue hues and blinding reflections provide me with a scene that imprints itself in my brain.

The sea also pushes me away with its powerful current and wild nature. The sea is unforgivable, it does not care for you who are, you cannot tame it. The sea can hold me under, like a crushing hug, squeezing the oxygen from my lungs. Its waves are a constant reminder that it can do what it wants with no regard or care. You cannot control the sea.

So in favour I surrender control to the sea. I let it push me around and swallow me into its murky depths. I allow the wild waters to cool my being down. The sea breathes life but it can also draw the breath from it. It's savage and dirty. It is also passionate and giving, welcoming me home with an all-encompassing caress.

Its wild nights and warm days breathe life into me and hold me down like a jealous lover, it will not relinquish me. My very spirit belongs to the sea, for I cannot leave my lover; I will always welcome its embrace forevermore.

I have a dramatically complicated and unconditionally persistent relationship with the sea.
