The Sand Trap

A Sonnet

A patina is fragile by nature

With some abrasion, it quickly dissolves;

When the tiger is revealed as paper

The revelation the patsy absolves

If politics is merely theater

A distraction from business and mad war

Reviews must occasionally crater

And the beguiling mask fall to the floor

When golf transfixes potential leaders

One senescent and the other deranged

There is little need for a mind reader

To confirm that things are now passing strange

When the sole remaining intelligence

Is artificial, all will be farce hence

Sonnet

    I lingered over "When the tiger is revealed as paper"

    Shaun said it perfectly; timely and depressing indeed- but oh so well done! You've mastered this structure, and I really enjoy this piece D.J.!

    What Shaun said! The final quatrain was expertly placed! Great build up to it and left space for a final word
