The Sacrifice

The Man That Was Me

By Errol McNeill Published 5 years ago 1 min read

I once knew a man.

He never really said much.

Underneath it all, I figured--he never really lived much.

I was sad for him really but wouldn't you be?

I knew a man.

He never really love much.

We all could tell.

When you looked into his eyes you could see a beautiful hell.

I knew a man.

He finally ran free.

Well, I used to know him...the old me.

A mere outline of all I chose to be.

Because I chose a new path and a new way.

Because growth requires change.

The sacrifice of yesterday for a better today.

About the Creator

Errol McNeill

I may be just a foolish dreamer

But I don't care

'Cause I know my happiness is waiting out there somewhere

I'm searching for that silver lining

Horizons that I've never seen

I'd like to take just a moment and dream my dream
