Music booms all around as the class in front of us dances their routine.

We stand at the back of the stage, where it's nearly black, waiting our turn.

This is it, tonight, my classmates and I will be performing our dance.

I will face those bright lights and the masses of people I don't know sitting in their seats.

My veins rapidly pulse, butterflies in my stomach.

The music fades away, flooding the air with silence.

We walk closer to our entrance points, looking out at the stage with anticipation.

The body vibrating sound of drums our ears are accustomed to breaks the silence in half.

We remain still for two more eight counts.

Then we start chugging towards our destined places, hearing our taps work together with the beat.

Reaching our places, the metal on the bottoms of our shoes compliments the beat of the drums.

Suddenly, I feel like a balloon filled with helium as I perform, my feet knowing what to do.

Nothing can touch me.

Anything is possible.
