The Rocky Way of Love
A poem and a song by Cher

On the best of days,
love flows like a quiet stream,
not a ripple upon the water.
Gently lapping against the banks,
with gentle, soft feelings of love.
On the worst of days,
love is muddled,
like a churning sea
and waves rise and fall,
each angry word,
like waves crashing upon rocky cliffs.
Life is thrown into turmoil,
the days appear sad and gray.
When the sun does appear,
it’s best when the flow and rhythm,
of day-to-day love,
hasn’t changed a bit
and love goes on as before.
Not always can we control,
what happens in love.
There can be great happiness,
there can be sorrow,
but it is always best,
to wait for a golden, new tomorrow.
There has to be a lot,
of give and take
and enough love,
to ride the waves,
as the tides come and go.
Sometimes we are unforgiving
and then love depends -
on whether there is enough in our hearts.
Enough to let it all out,
to let it go forth,
the way that it did once before.
Not upsetting our lives
and the people who count the most,
like two people,
who love through sunny days
and the worst of storms -
but with love, you never know.

You have captured the nature of love wonderfully here, Rasma!
