Miles to go, miles we came,
As we escape the realities of our everyday.
Side by side, free at last,
Don’t look back, forget the past.
Onward the road goes, taking us further from our woes.
Each stop, each picture, becomes a moment we’re clinging to,
For we don’t want this ending too soon.
The scenery surrounds us, holding us captive to its glory.
As our eyes become prisoners and our breath is stolen,
We understand this is what it's like to feel alive.
To live a great story.
Let me stay, I silently plead.
Look! There goes some tumbleweed!
As night falls, the sky is speckled with light,
The stars shining down proudly,
Ever so bright.
I’m captivated by the sight.
All that is good, all that is great,
Lies in this road, leading us on our way.
On the road we wish to stay,
Now at peace, let it remain this way,
The road healing our pain.
Miles to go, miles we came,
Route 66 is her name.
