The Road Least Traveled
Coming Out the Other Side

Come with me down the road least traveled;
To a place that may or may not exist.
We'll see sights you have never seen,
All while we are on our magical tryst.
We'll walk hand in hand through the dark woods,
smelling the forest scents as we go along.
Together we will clamber between the trees,
where we won't have to worry about where we belong.
As we tarry merrily along, hand in hand,
I promise our journey's end will be worth the wait.
No matter how long it may seem to take,
We can never be too late.
I promise that when we come to the end of the line,
You will gain more than bread without leaven.
We will feast on each other when we arrive,
Taking each other to our own personal heaven.

Enjoyed the romanticism of this very much 🤍
There's something about the open road, isn't there?
I love where your poem led me.

Beautiful words, I love this one
I agree with one of the comments that last line is yummy
Loving poetry and rhyme 💖
I love the last line.
A lovely read!
Oooo, this gave me strong vibes of Robert Frost! I loved it!
What a great poem! Loved the journey this took us on, very enchanting
I just wanted to second what my good friend Jay says below, because this is an enchanting poem, and the musical rhyme-scheme and rhythm weave such magic throughout. A lovely read, which becomes more and more romantic and sensual as we go along. It's a very sweet surprise to gradually discover these elements, and to be sure from the final line that the narrator and her companion are on rather more than just a nature-ramble...! Thank you for this little bit of escapism this morning. I wouldn't at all mind spending my day thus - although I'd settle for a batch of snickerdoodles!
My Dear Step-Mother - You have such charm and wit - You 'Leaven' me!
