The Ritual is the Spell

I’ve thought about writing.

I’ve read books about writing.

I’ve mused about writing,

Even pontificated about writing.

I’ve known about writing,

Stood next to writing,

Danced around the idea of writing.

I’ve been fascinated about writing,

Frequently resentful about writing,

Scorned the very notion of writing,

Mourned the very notion of writing.

Shall I pray, now, to writing?

Offer gifts?

Write a spell for her and dance under a moon?

I am thinking about herbs and incantations,

When she whispers to me, “sit.”
