The right thing…..what is it?
I really want to know!
Is it doing something hard?
Or helping others grow?
Do you try and do the right thing
Even when many refuse
Does the right thing ever change?
Does it align with your views?
Will the right thing make you suffer
Or will it bring you joy?
Is the right thing worth striving for?
Or is it merely a decoy?
You may want to do the right thing
You say it everyday
That surely you will do it
And all will be okay
But it isn’t always easy
To stand for what is right
You will often stand alone
You may have a heavy fight
Do you think the right thing changes?
Do you think it stays the same?
In any circumstance,
No matter who’s in pain.
I want to do the right thing, and I want it to help others
I hope by doing this, that we all can be as brothers
You say it isn’t feasible, the right thing isn't always classy
I wonder…..if you do the right thing. Does it really make everyone happy?"

This poem took my breath away. Poems that make me do some introspection will always have my heart, my favourite line was… I can’t choose a favourite line, honestly I cannot. Every line makes me gasp because it is as if you have a gift to bring us to our knees to confess the days when we feel doing the right thing will make us suffer. Well done a thousand times over!
