The Rescue Dog who was depressed

I loved him back to health

The Rescue Dog who was depressed

My love cured him.

It turned out he mourned

his human daddy

who died suddenly.

My love reassured him.

He just needed hugs and kisses.

He’d curled up tight, alone in grief,

his heart adrift, beyond relief.

Each night he whimpered, lost in dreams,

still searching for what used to be.

His food untouched, his tail held low,

the spark within refused to glow.

But arms around him, soft and true,

I whispered, I am here for you.

He raised his head, his eyes met mine,

a quiet trust began to shine.

Love does not rush, nor force its way,

it waits, it stays, it heals each day.

Now by my side, he walks with pride,

his sorrow eased, though love won’t hide.

He carries loss, but love shines through,

his broken heart now beats anew.

And when the night is cold and deep,

he lays his head and drifts to sleep.

No longer lost, no longer torn,

he dreams of lost love, still,

but secure he knows he is in no harm.

When I found him he was depressed so sad

My loving hug took away the bad.

Recovered now he runs and plays

Although I know he remembers sadder days

Awww, what a sweet poem. Dogs and animals do have feelings just like us humans.
