The Red Within Me
A vibrant color the world wants to see

Red describes me
Bathes everything I see
Like the vibrant ladybug that takes flight
From the mesmerizing cherry blossom tree
All last month we talked about me
Autism awareness and acceptance was it supposed to be
The beautiful spectrum, of all that is We
I was feeling hot pink
Sassy and powerful swimming in a sea of ultramarine tranquility
Grounded in my power and ready to share
Amazing colors, that only my light bears
My scrumptious pink strawberry smile
Dancing on to the stage of YOUR heart
Excitement causing me to Burst like an overly filled balloon...
99 luft balloons
99 red balloons
99 problems and being autistic isn’t 1
Bursting with knowledge, I'm here to share
The golden warmth of the sun
feeding me energy to get this done
All month long we talked about me
Eugenics, a shiny ripe red apple picked from that tree.
All the beauty, that I continue to see
All disappeared when we focused on me.
The blood of the orange so sweet to taste
But the blood on my brow reaks with a red tint of hate
Tears burn lines into my cheeks
While I sit here and contemplate
There is so much of me
So much to see
Mother, daughter, friend with empathy
An insightful, wise, creative being
Wanting all to succeed in fulfilling their dreams
“AUTISM” is shouted loud for all to hear
My light starts to fade
The only red the world wants me to shine
Is the red that erases my lifeline.
Now I ask, will there ever come I time
Where I have a say, In that which is mine?
