I looked on in admiration at someone else’s achievement Marveling at their accomplishments, abilities, and successes Wondering whether I am slow, delayed, or unable Questioning my place on life's journey road
My heart reminded me that all good things take time on the chosen way The road less traveled - paved with work, persistence, tenacity Patience, perseverance, and honesty And yes, oftentimes struggle, trouble, pain, lack, doubts, and fear
My mind reminded me That nothing good and lasting comes easy The work and pain and frustration and tears Often precedes a future purpose and good Bringing a bountiful harvest in tow
Just like the duck you see gliding effortlessly on the surface Is furiously paddling beneath the water Or the beautiful iceberg mountain Is just a tip of a massive ice foundation Or the magnificent methuselah tree is nourished and supported By a network of strong underground roots So no success or great feat happens Without time and chance doing their work
Everyone has a share in this world’s trouble None is exempt from his allotted portion Notwithstanding, we must charge never giving up or backing down Till our appointment date with destiny manifests
Until then, I give myself the gift of Self-Grace Self-patience, self-love, and self-care Knowing my assured day will come if I but Hold on and don’t give up
