The Rage Of Angels

Struggles To Change

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished about a year ago 1 min read
Noir Art

I am the queen of prayers unanswered

Living a life of foolish improv

Sticks and stones and words that hurt

revealing subtle cues, like Pavlov

*

Entertaining, yet unaware

Stirring the rage of unseen angels

Well rehearsed in savoir faire

glibly unlearned, until it’s painful

*

Well versed in the black and white

disguising my true colors

Highlighting the classic, constant fight

pitting brother against brother

*

Domino causes and effects

designed to bring me down

One by one, tracing my steps

with scattered pieces on the ground

*

No way out of open doors

or boarded windowpanes

The thought of rain threatens to drown

the ideas making me sane

*

Open your eyes, your heart and mind

pretending won’t save you now

Forget yourself and you will find

the depths of your own power

I love how each stanza builds on the idea of finding strength, even in the hardest moments.
