The Quiet Barber - the Poem
An Entry for the Moment of Silence Acrostic Challenge
By Rachel DeemingPublished about a year ago • 1 min read
Sit with me in the chair while I cut your hair;
I will listen to you but not say a word.
Let me coax your follicles into ordered shapes;
Eyebrows knitted, elbows raised for optimum dexterity;
No noise, just the buzz of clippers and the movement of my art.
Chatter is at a minimum, focus is all,
Ending as ends reach their clipped, snipped end.

I love this! I got my hair cut the other day and she was silent. I really enjoyed that vs having to hold a conversation. So well done and brilliant idea!
Chipped clipped endings brought me joy!
Very clever concept, Rachel! Loved “No noise, just the buzz of clippers and the movement of my art.”
Could I get this arrangement but in reverse at the hairdresser?? I hate small talk and that part of the experience... 😅 This was a clever entry for the acrostic challenge though! Love what you did here, Rachel!
What Marilyn said! Loved it as a poem! Now I can check it out as a story!
Yes. Perfect way to get a haircut.
NIcely done. I prefer silence during a hair salon experience. I am sure many a stylist feels the same. A quiet client and a quiet artist. Feels like magic to me!
What a brilliant approach to the silence acrostic prompt. I always want to not do the chitter chatter nonsense when I'm getting my hair cut, but I feel obligated to make small talk. I enjoyed your acrostic poem.
Getting my hair done, I have a fun conversation. It’s hard for me to be silence. Well done 💞
Why does this make me feel so tense?
Oh wow, that last line was sooo well done! I read it a few times hehehehe
