The Quest

"The Quest"

Down the long, murky trail the knight traveled

For years he had been looking for his beautiful damsel

Locked away in a tower high underground, she had abandoned all hope of ever being found.

For there was no entrance into the tower she sat

Crazy she was driven, never to turn back

As a matter of fact, she intended not to.

With the last of her energy she yelled out as she had tried before

"Please, i need someone to help, i cant do this anymore"

The knight's horse stopped in its tracks

Confused, the knight grabbed his sword

Ready for a beast at any moment, but instead heard words

A hymn, it whistled through the trees

The man started sobbing uncontrollably, dropping to his knees

The armor he wore eroded, the forest around him dissipated

His wifes hand in his now cold, rested

the wrinkles on her face of a time tested

The trail which the two had walked, once sky of blue, forked into two although so much love invested

The disease could not stop from being spread

The quest not over, the man decided he too wanted to enter the tower.

Poetic, he injected his poison,

in hopes that he may once again have a sunny day with his fair maiden
