Taking a stand

The beauty of her black skin glistens under the moonlight

She stares into the darkness contemplating her life

Her feet swinging back and forth while sitting on the edge of a dock

The sound of  water sings a tune that uplifts her mood in a joyous stance

Echoes of her name calling out to her

At first, it seems so far away then It becomes a little closer and closer

until the voice bombards her surroundings

Heart pounding from an unknowing shadow in her midst

Became aware it was just a shining sparkle

not in the sky but as her personal star

A Surprise is what he had in his hand

He said its time for me to take a stand

He got down on one knee and propose

and told her he forever wants to be her man.
