The Pride of Aubusson

The masquerading rug

An ornate tapestry adorns the oak parquet

Burgundy florals caress tangerine volutes

Cream spackles the void of color into cohesion

The hued tango of geometry feigns perfection

Unmarred in a misty room of dust and cracks

Discarded as dust bunnies

As unwanted as the rubble of our crumbling foundation

They are shoved beneath the carpet

The gathering of worthlessness underfoot

Displeases each stride

"They" are identities and histories

Stories richer than bronzed Grecian honey

Realities drenched in terracotta showers

Imaginations and anthologies

Ideas, novelties, and creativity

Infectious powers such as these threaten the monotony

Terrorize the status quo

And above all else

Endanger the authority of the

Few.

Irish meadows captivate me. Mutterings of my urban home deafen me. Bitterness of joy and sweetness of vengeance consume me.
