I am the people the mob, the crowd, the mass. Do you realize that all the great achievements of the world are accomplished through me? I am the working man, the inventor, the maker of the world's food and clothes. I am the audience that witnesses history unfold. The Napoleons of the world rise from my ranks, and the Lincolns too. They live, they die, and then I bring forth more Napoleons and Lincolns.

I am the seed ground, the fertile prairie that withstands much plowing. Terrible storms sweep over me, stripping away my best, but I endure. I forget the pain, the sacrifices. I forget everything except that death comes for me, forcing me to toil and surrender what I have. And still, I forget.

Sometimes, I growl and shake myself. In those moments, I remember just briefly—that it would be better to shed a few red drops of blood for history to remember than to live in forgetfulness. But soon, I forget again.

Yet, when I the people learn to remember, when I take to heart the lessons of yesterday and refuse to forget who robbed me last year, who made a fool of me, then everything will change. There will be no speaker in all the world who will dare utter the name of the people with a sneer in his voice or a smile of derision on his lips. The mob, the crowd, the mass will have arrived. The world will know that I am not just a background force but the very foundation on which everything stands. The time will come when I will no longer forget, and when that day arrives, the world will tremble.
