The Point

What was the point?

Why bother sending me to college, encouraging me to study, reminding me how important a good education is, if, when I bring up what I learned, you don't want to hear it? You shut it down, tell me I'm overreacting, tell me to just stop bringing it up, but why?

Are you afraid I'm right? Are you afraid you supported and continue to support the ghosts of the people you KNOW are the bad guys? Or are you that uneducated, that someone coming to challenge your beliefs scares the ever living shit out of you?

How did we get here?

Education used to be seen as an honor, the highest goal you could possibly obtain, families used to use every last penny they had to their name to send their kids to school because they knew getting that education could make their kids lives better than theirs were for the lack of one. But it became twisted.

Where are we now?

Now education has somehow been twisted into Evil with a capital E. All professors are radical, schools are no longer educating they're supposedly "indoctrinating". Education is no longer respected its feared. Tell me, do you denounce education because you know you're copying the bad guys from history and you don't want people knowing? You know if people cracked open a single book and trusted it that they'd gather the pitchforks and torches and bury you under the jail?

What was my education?

A whole high school and college career studying not only history, but psychology, philosophy, and sociology, all of which allow me to apply my knowledge in different ways and all point to the same conclusion. You are the bad guys.

Demonizing education and creating a "state" or "patriotic" education system was done by those very same bad guys you don't like being compared to. So tell me, if not bad guy, why bad guy shaped?

Why is this happening?

I really couldn't tell you for sure, I can only make guesses as to why.

Maybe its just in human nature to be hateful and fearful of the unknown, some primal and ancient DNA strand buried deep within us that, even though it may be microscopic, when it twinges it makes our whole being shrink back in fear of what we don't understand.

Maybe it's a lack of education that makes some of us feel inferior and therefore embarrassed and therefore more prone to lashing out like school children.

Maybe it's a natural cycle of the world, we have to go through tumultuous times facilitated by the Greedy, Ruthless, Wrathful, children in charge.

So... what was the point of all this if in the end your plan was to burn it down around you anyway?
