The Poetry and Tai Chi

a slant rhyming poem in couplets

By Shanon Angermeyer NormanPublished 12 months ago 1 min read

This Friday morn I awoke before dawn,

Packed up a small bag to spend the day gone.

Just couldn't sit in my comfy chair home

the saw cutting sound was enough to dethrone.

Arrived at the drive thru for a quick breakfast deal

Then went to relax at the park and eat my meal.

Sat there admiring the beauty of water and land

and spoke to Mother Earth knowing she'd understand.

The palm tree, the winter trees, the fire trees, and shrubs

all showed me the significance of our peace and our love.

The dogs with companions also smiled at me

as I noticed the blue jay flying around happily.

Then the Yin to my Yang was seen parking behind mine,

when I went to ask why the message was right on time.

Yin wanted me to know I'd come for more than pleasure

as I followed the chi flow great work done in my liesure.

The gymnasium pool was not open for a swim

so I took a hot shower and considered my chi form.

Dressed myself slowly, then went to the mirrored room

to perform my short water dances before clock at noon.

Not strain or stress does the flow of chi dance ----

The way of Tai Chi form is all in balance.

Desire and Will can direct but not lead

or Frustration comes upon the natural deed.

After satisfied with my performance I left to go on

and the wind guided my sail to my art program

where I took moving photos with the music of my voice

to express why some places bring me obvious joy.

Life does not have to be right, wrong, or win, lose ---

Tai Chi flow shows me how easy it is to choose.

I really enjoyed this! The way you captured a peaceful, reflective day and tied it to Tai Chi was so calming. it's about just letting the flow guide you. Very peaceful and uplifting!
