The Poet's Song

The Forces...

By C. Rommial ButlerPublished 8 months ago 1 min read
Vincent van Gogh: The Poet's Garden

There is a third thing and the fourth way

Against which all the forces strive in vain.

If only they would cease engaging the fray

They would save us all a lot of pain.

The power struggle which saps our strength

Is no part of fate or of any plan,

But a silly game of indeterminate length

That wastes our lives wherever it can.

They try and they die in a senseless war

That cannot be won and is always wrong

But at least they've added to the lore

That grows a garden from The Poet's Song...

One can learn from a poet's work, but one must really listen as well to the words to understand. Good job.

This is thought-provoking, reminds me of how much energy we waste fighting battles that never needed to happen.

THe opening line is so interesting, compelling me to read and then find myself nodding in agreement to everything that is said.

  • I love that first line so much
