The Life Birthed of Ruin

To rise from ashes,

Of a fruitless life.

Why try, you will never sever your chains,

Voices constantly say holding fast,

Anchoring those who refuse,

To trust in themselves and live for a dream.

The one who walked through,

Shadows to flames then through them.

Each step marring the flesh and scaring the heart.

The flame then burns purifying,

Sweeping forth, scorching all lingering shadows.

Only to find the once pathetic child,

Now a grown man carving through obstacles.

A beautiful Phoenix taking flight,

When once told he’d never walk.

To those who help taught me to fly,

Lessons I shall never forget.

Never again shall I be bound to the lands,

To crawl in muck and mire.

To those whom doubted and said,

It can’t be done.

Attempting to bring me down,

And bind me to their limits.

Keep watching I’ve merely just begun,

For the best is still yet to come.
