The Pause in the Year

The magical week between Christmas and New Year's

By Laura DePacePublished about a year ago 1 min read

I love this time of year.

Not Christmas, with its

Traditional foods,

Its Decorations,

Its Christmas tree,

Its Carols and its Jingle Bells.

Not New Year’s, with its

Champagne toasts,

Its Year in Review,

Its Resolutions

Its New Year, New You vibe.

What I love is

…The

….Pause

…..In

……The

…….Year.

The space

Between Christmas and New Year’s.

That magical week

When time slows down.

When there’s no school

Until “Next Year.”

When we take a few

Precious days

Off from work.

When we sleep late,

Spend time in our jammies,

Camp out on the couch

With a blanket

And a cat

And an old movie.

When we hit Pause

And take a deep breath.

Stop our reckless run

And slow to a stroll.

Look around us

And think how lucky we are

Simply to BE.

In the Pause

Between Christmas

And New Year’s.
