The Path To Nowhere
I walk when the world has folded into sleep,
Streetlights hum like they know my name.
The road ahead offers no promises at all,
Only distance and the sound of my own breath.
This path does not ask where I am going,
It takes my footsteps without judgement or care.
Each stone remembers others who passed through,
Leaving questions instead of directions behind.
I have followed hope until it thinned to silence,
Watched certainty loosen its grip on my hands.
Some dreams slipped away without saying goodbye,
Teaching me how absence can still feel loud.
The night listens better than most ever did,
It lets my thoughts wander without correction.
I speak to the dark in unfinished sentences,
And it answers by letting me continue.
Nowhere is not empty the way they warned me,
It is full of truths stripped of expectation.
Here I meet myself without the usual armour,
Standing quietly, no performance required.
I once feared arriving with nothing to show,
No map, no triumph, no clear destination.
Now I understand the value of standing still,
Letting the heart decide what matters next.
When dawn eventually finds my shadow moving,
I will not rush to name where I have been.
Some journeys are meant to change the walker,
Not the place where the feet finally stop.
