The Path Taken To A Decision
Defeat is not an option

Life’s experiences are often based on uncertainty
It’s the wonderful times you feel your confident self,
You want it so badly you’re prepared to take the risk
No doubts, just sheer determination you find yourself.
***
Then there’s those times where you need to change
You’ve a decision you need to make, but it’s too hard,
Your thoughts constantly changing in their directions
Ideas surface, choices win then lose, so you discard.
***
I liken it to being on a mouse’s exercise wheel, non stop
Round and round and round your thoughts tend to go,
The stress levels rise, you begin to feel alone, so afraid
You try forcing the issue but you still just don’t know.
***
You pour through lists, writing down the pros and cons
Nothing is helping, you begin to feel a panic attack,
You force yourself to breathe, hold it and slowly exhale
Your decision making process has failed, that’s a fact.
***
The wheel continues to turn, round and round again
You’re loosing sleep, you struggle, not wanting to eat,
You question the path to take, what decision to make
Fighting the war torn battle, refusing to accept defeat!

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.

Beautiful. Can't believe I just saw this, all these days later.
This struggle was very relatable. I loved how you wrote it so beautifully into a poem
