The One My Heart Breaks For

The struggle

My bones are weary

My brain yearns

For sleep but alas

I sit alone and ponder

The moments of my day

The conversations

Words spoken

And abandoned

A child’s tears

A mother’s sigh

The phone call

With the news

I’d rather forget

If only Father Time

Could wind the clock

Back for us

And the one my

Heart breaks for

Please dear God

Keep him close

Keep him safe

Free him from

The demons that chase him

In the darkness

And the shadows

*****

For those with loved ones who struggle with addiction, you’ll understand the heartbreak and worry. He was found and is safe!
