The One in Front of the Gun

Dear hoplophobes,

With trepidation and fear,

You disdain the gun.

Unlike the timid deer,

You are not hunted, don’t run.

The firearm is your friend.

The weapon that blasts

Is a security tool to the end

And the safety simply lasts.

Now of course there have been times

Where some users of a pistol, shotgun or rifle

Have laid down people, such crimes.

But overall, force by gun has been a trifle.

So don’t be afraid of the muzzle.

Don’t be afraid of the stock.

Gun violence is not a puzzle.

It can be reversed like a clock.
