The old man

Memories of days

The old man sits alone in his chair

His eyes fixed on the fire

Memories of days gone by

Flicker in his mind like the flame's desire

Once he was young, with dreams to chase

But now his days are filled with regret

He thinks of all the opportunities missed

And the love he'll never forget

He recalls the laughter and the tears

The joy and the pain

But most of all he remembers

The love that was in vain

His heart is heavy with sorrow

As he reflects on his life

He wishes for one more chance

To make things right

But he knows that time is running out

And the end is drawing near

He'll soon be reunited with those he loved

But for now, he sits here in fear

The fire burns low in the hearth

As the old man's head droops down

He's lost in his thoughts

In this quiet and lonely town.
