The Ocean Must Be a Woman
A Dizain free verse poem

The beauty of the ocean,
Like a woman in her youth,
Mystical and magical
And all that lies between.
Such a mighty force to deal with
Like a woman’s unbridled scorn
A sculptor and creator
The way you shape your sandy shore
Carve your identity into rocks like none before
A mark that says don’t mess with me; I am the law.
And in a quieter moment
The colors that you show
Mesmerize and yet torment us
Turquois blue and vivid teal
That a photo cannot show
But these can turn to dull grey-green
Like a woman’s anger shows
Don’t you dare belittle me
Or like a strong wind I will blow.
Shifting sands with the seasons
As many sailors know
You are the ultimate seductress
And they just cannot let go
Like some frustrated lover
That you have said no to once before
You know that you have trapped them
And they will be back for more
The ocean must be a woman
Of that, I am quite sure.

[A Dizain (10 line stanza) poem. It is my first free verse poem attempt. It was a challenge for me because I usually have to have rhyming lines in my poems. Free verse does not come naturally to me because I am clinically OCD (Obsessive-compulsive disorder). Hope you like it. ]
Till next time,

The way you've compared her with an Ocean, which of course you love, is beautiful! Loved it, Sir!
