The Nurse Who Kills You As You Sleep
Some say it’s the final stay. The only way out is Up

The Nurse Who Kills You As You Sleep
She doesn’t knock
she’s already in
feet like whispers
and air-thin skin
No badge, no belt
no folder or chart
just the silence
that stills your heart
She smooths your sheet
with a lover’s grace
no blood, no mess
just an empty face
She hums a tune
you’ll never place
a lullaby
to still your pace
No injection mark
no final word
just the sound of breath
you never heard
She leans in close
with nothing to say
and carries your dreams
quietly away
The room stays neat
the pillow warm
no hint of struggle
no sign of harm
The morning comes
the windows wide
your body still
the nurse outside
No name is logged
no shift was due
she died in this room
in 1962
And now she waits
when the dusk runs deep
a ghost in white
who steals your sleep

Very nice, Marie. As I read this, I thought - the night nurse, and this is how it might be for people who just pass away in their sleep.
So eerie! I love it!
Whoa! So well timed, brilliant and creepy: LOVED IT!
