The night I met my savior

A poem to my late father

The night I met my savior

In the twilight of a starlit night

When my legs were weary and my heart alight

I met a firefly whose dance so alluring

For I chased her down till I knew I lost my tracking

Led me to a wondrous lake where no one traversed before

As I stood still fathoming my shadow by the shore,

that one fly turned into hundreds

And hundreds into thousands;

Swirling like storm they shaped out a delicate hand

As it touched my fingers evolved into a beautiful man

Oh I swear I've never seen two eyes so peaceful

lips so crimson,features so careful

His smile that glistened was followed by a warm embrace

We sat on the grass gazing the stars of grace

Both remained silent for no one knows how long

suddenly he told the tale of a hero and his son

Drifted away by the severe wind I put my head on his lap

Nothing in the world felt so secure melting into nap

It was late midnight when I woke up in fear

Savior was still awake by the side of his dear

kissing the forehead gently he brushes

my hair and then put me to sleep

Holding me in his arms- unmistakable grip.
