A Love Poem... I guess

I feel in love with the way he moves

The soft delicate fingering of wired strings

And head bowed over with closed eyes.

Looking as though you have been transported elsewhere.

I have fallen like this before,

With other soul beings

Who light up like stars.

And make me want to open universes for them.

To move mountains, part oceans

As though I could give them some taste

of the same feeling I get.

When their being fills the space around me.

Tell tales within my mind

About how I would play with the curls of your hair,

Feel the warmth of your chest

And save you over and over again

Like some lost knight, doomed to be burned by the dragon.

And when I come up for air,

And the dream turns back to reality,

I wonder what is so wrong with me.

To fall for someone I hardly know.

Am I so superficial to be captured by looks?

To feel the heat of my body by the sound of a voice.

It's almost like I fall with the steps of a plan,

checking the star signs to prove some cosmic law.

And I tell myself I know them

In a broken way.

Because I know random facts and the sound of a laugh.

Listen and hear the words of songs and poems.

And just like in English class,

I connect the dots and create this meaning -

Fill the missing pieces in and make a new space.

One that's been born of yours and mine.

It's like fiction and fantasy,

Falling for characters on the page.

Creating and craving for something

You've only just scratched the surface on knowing....

love poems
