Your words have been
a miracle to me
your voice
a healing wind
that comes to usher
away the veil
that obscured
the past
I couldn’t comprehend
I know you
have heard the phrase
“speaking words of truth to power”
your words of power
spoke to my painful truth
inviting it to finally
come out of hiding
into a world you made
comforting and inviting
I can not stop
the bonds of love
from slipping me into
the glittering sky
slowly elevating me
wrapped invisibly around
wrists that tumble
aimlessly past my face
I will allow tears to flow
freely for the joy
of feeling
send utterances
of gleeful squealing
As the clouds grace
my dewy skin

This poem was the first I had featured in Wishbone Words, an online magazine created by and for disabled artists. It was the first poem I had published after a long hiatus from submitting my writing, about twenty years. If you have considered submitting your writing to literary journals or magazines, don't wait. You can always post them later. There are even some that will take writing you have already posted here.
