The Muse in the Darkened Path
A Poem

Soft path beneath hard ground
Greenery wrapped in tender leaves
The music of nature all around
Withered twigs rhyming with the breeze
I sought a night when the moon was bright,
In a day when the sun was caught.
Light was fought with that girl's naught
To see if my heart was wrought or not?
I see a cadaver deep inside
Waking from a long nap after that sight
Her presence leaves me with nowhere to hide
Soaring atop the silence, like a drifting kite
The first sight of her played a symphony upon my heartstrings
Dreams dispersed in a manic daze
As leaves shed over a thousand springs
That manic moment, gazing at her pure and pristine image
We could fly forever and still find no way
The darkened path won't let me flee too far away
She stands quite, the moment I stray
I faltered at the first calm ray
It was a wonder that met the eyes
It was a severance that touched the soul
Light stolen from the tethered skies
The depth of her void, made the circle whole

The tension between flight and stillness wanting to escape yet being held in place gives the poem its quiet power.
Great lines. It hit deep in "We could fly forever and still find no way"
Nice one
Beautifully constructed
This poem feels very emotional and deep. I really like the way you use nature to show feelings, especially the path, the moon, and the silence. Some lines are a little hard to understand, but that also makes the poem mysterious. The image of the girl feels strong and haunting, and it stays in the mind. Overall, it feels honest and full of quiet emotion. I enjoyed reading it
Happy New Year!

This is dreamy, full of longing, and painfully relatable. Thank you for being a mirror, that reflects the cries of so many of our hearts!
I am still in awe after reading this. I tried to write a comment then failed. My words pale in comparison to this beautifully written piece.
